All of our services are currently online. The information given below may still be of interest if you are new, to give you an idea of what our services are normally like.
We know that being the new person can be difficult so this page will help to explain what you are getting yourself into. Hopefully after hearing a bit about what we are like, it won’t seem so scary and you will be excited to join us.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE
Broadway put great emphasis on hospitality so on a Sunday morning there will be people at the door to greet and answer any questions you may have. If you are bringing children, you will be introduced to Amy, our youth and children’s worker or another leader who is on for
IS THERE A DRESS CODE?
We don’t have a dress code, just wear what you feel comfortable in. Some people choose to wear something casual while others wear their Sunday best, we don’t mind either way.
WHAT IS A SUNDAY MORNING LIKE?
The worship includes a blend of contemporary and traditional hymns and songs led by a music group and/or organ with words projected on the screen or large print paper copies for those who need them, prayers – mostly led from the front, readings from the Bible and teaching.
We start with everyone together then the young people will go out to their groups with the leaders. There is an attended crèche for under 3s but if your baby is very young and you would prefer to stay in the service, there is a carpeted area with a few toys at the back of the church where you are welcome to go if they need a bit more attention than you can give in your seat. If you need anything else, please ask.
WHAT ABOUT MONEY?
An offering is taken during the service which is an opportunity for those who are regular to give financially as part of their own discipleship and commitment to the fellowship but many choose to give by standing order so the bag gets passed on. There is no compulsion to contribute as a visitor.
WHEN IS COMMUNION?
Communion is usually on the 3rd Sunday in the morning and the 1st Sunday in the evening. It is open to all who wish to participate. Occasionally the children come back and share in it, having received teaching in their groups about it – it is the parents’ discretion whether they receive or not.
AFTER THE MORNING SERVICE
After the service there is usually refreshments (often including cake!) but this is suspended for the moment. People are still staying to chat though so it is a time to get to know one another, ask any questions and some ask for prayer. During the pandemic we are meeting via Zoom for ‘coffee and chat’ each Sunday, at 11.15am.
WHAT ABOUT AN EVENING SERVICE?
We are currently holding weekly Christian Mindfulness sessions at 6.30pm each Sunday, via Zoom. You can sign-up to receive a Zoom link via the ‘Events’ page, or use our ‘Contact Us’ page to find out more.
Messy Church is usually at 4.30pm on the second Sunday of each month, but has stopped during the pandemic.
Check the events page for the latest info.
STILL HAVE QUESTIONS
We have tried to think of all the basics but we know that there are always other questions you might have so just get in touch using the details at the bottom of the page.
We meet at 10.30 am on Sunday mornings and have a traditional style monthly service at 3.00 pm, usually the second Sunday but please check our events page.
